Hello! My name is Tabetha and I'm the owner/resident artist/teacher at Landt Creative Space.
I quit my full-time job in 2009 to pursue a career in art. I knew it was the worst possible economy to do such a thing, but... I also knew that if I didn't do it then, I never would. A year later I was still working part time helping out at my old job, and not selling enough art to make ends meet. I had to face the fact that I may have to give up my art studio, and this made me sad beyond words. So I racked my brain for different ways to use my studio and bring in some money.
People had suggested that I teach for several years prior, so I thought... why not? I opened the doors to Painting Soiree on Santa Fe in September 2010.
Although it started out as a way to keep my studio, it has turned into a passion. I love teaching! And people have really responded well to my classes. My favorite thing is having people leave my studio proud of their work, having had little or no prior painting experience. "I had no idea I could do that!" is one of my favorite comments.
Over the years Painting Soiree has morphed to include open studio sessions, classes on creativity, oil paints, technique, abstract painting and art retreats. My business name has changed to Landt Creative Space to embrace the all of the creative work that happens in my studio.
